Friday Newsletter-August 20
  8/20/2010 -

August 20, 2010

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! What a wonderful welcome you have all given me this week! I truly had my best first day ever on Wednesday. Visiting all the classrooms, hearing the children’s and teachers’ voices alive in the building gave me a new found energy that I didn’t know I had. I am confident in this year and our plan to live out our school theme, “Alive In Christ”. Our goal to be more conscious of our words and actions at all times, to be people alive in Christ whose daily efforts are centered on filling up others. As we fill up others, we too will be filled. This is our extension theme to help us be alive in Christ. As we progress through the year, you will hear your children talking about buckets. For now, just know that my bucket was overflowing all week!

Today’s newsletter will be the only one sent hard copy, starting next week; it will be emailed as in the past. I’m working on updating family email addresses. This newsletter will also be on the St. Mary Magdalen website on the principal’s page if there is something you would like to refer back to in the future.

Reminders

SPIRIT SHIRTS: Last year’s spirit shirts can only be worn for PE. 2010-2011 spirit shirts can be ordered now through September 7th. They are the only spirit shirts that can be worn this school year. In addition to that, they can only be worn on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Attire for Mass is UNIFORM ONLY. You will also notice that each Monday, the faculty and staff will be wearing their spirit shirts and jeans. As a group we have decided to donate $1.00 or more each week to be able to wear our denim, and the donations will be given to Joe’s Place, a local homeless shelter for boys in Maplewood.

TARDIES: Do not forget that if your child or children are tardy, you must come to the office to sign them in before they can go to class.

3-2-6: Students being dropped off before 7:25 a.m. must come inside and go to the 3-2-6 room. There cannot be any unsupervised children at either entrance before this time. Additionally, no student can be dropped off before 7:00 a.m. either.

FINNINGER’S CATERING: Do not forget to create an account and order your child or children’s lunches by the end of next week. There will be a link to Finninger’s on the school home page by Monday to be able to access it easily. If you still need a packet with the explanation of the program and how to use it, we have several copies of this in the office.

FAMILY HANDBOOK: You were sent copies of the updates to the family handbook in July, but please refer to the complete addition on the website if you are ever in doubt of a policy. I would like you to pay close attention to the Internet and Electronic Communications Conduct section on page 39. It is our goal to ensure that all students feel safe and secure at school. “Whether occurring within or outside of the school, when students jeopardize the safe environment or act contrary to those Gospel values they can be subject to disciplinary action by the school.”

I would like to begin this year by sharing with you the prayer of our theme:

I believe what Jesus promised:

“I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly.”

Thank you, Father, for sending Jesus to be my friend and my brother.

Fill me with His Spirit that I may be strong and loyal in following Him.

May I bring His joy and love to all I meet.

May Jesus remain with me always so that I may be “alive in Christ.”

I ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Amen

Have a Blessed weekend and week ahead!

Mrs. Sauer
